Housing for solar, wind, power plant, and transmission crews

Crew housing for solar, wind, battery storage, gas power plants, and transmission builds in rural West Texas counties. 12–24 month projects, 100–1,000 workers.

Renewable and power projects land in counties like Scurry, Nolan, Mitchell, Fisher, and Pecos, where a 300-person crew can outnumber the hotel rooms tenfold. Our crew units and sleepers give EPCs a camp they own for the 12–24 month build and can move to the next site.

Who buys

Solar and wind EPCs, gas power plant builders, battery storage developers, and transmission line contractors.

The housing problem

  • Projects sit far from towns with lodging.
  • Builds overlap with data center and oilfield demand for the same beds.
  • Transmission crews move along a line like pipeline crews.

Power plants are part of the data center wave. Hyperscale campuses in West Texas are pairing with new gas generation, and housing operators have announced beds specifically for power plant crews near Pecos and elsewhere. If you are building generation, you are competing with those projects for the same rooms.

Typical unit mix

  • 300-worker solar build: 60 five-room crew units, laundry, and a dining hall
  • Transmission crew of 60: 12 crew units on a movable yard
  • O&M staff after construction: keep 2–4 HUD homes as permanent housing

Recommended units: 16×76 5-Bed, 5-Bath Crew Unit (Shared Kitchen)HUD-Code 4-Bed, 4-Bath Home All models

Timeline

Order crew units when the EPC contract is signed, not at mobilization. Site and utility work drive the start date.

Rules and compliance

Same as other industrial camps: TDLR rules for non-coded units, county septic permits, and fire spacing between units.

Common questions

Can we keep some units after construction?

Yes. Many owners keep a few homes for operations staff in remote counties and sell or move the rest.
